Background:

Currently, there are approximately 2 billion disabled individuals worldwide. In recent years, both internationally and in China, there has been increasing attention given to accessibility work and the development of the disability industry. The United Nations has incorporated the construction of accessible environments into its sustainable development strategy. This year, the theme of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is Taking Action Together: Empowering Persons with Disabilities and Ensuring Inclusiveness and Equality. Therefore, the service capabilities and system construction for the disabled community represent a country’s level of civilization construction.

The Eden Project prioritizes the establishment of the “Eden Garden” platform, which will be the world’s first resource docking platform for accessible products and services. The platform is a demand-oriented service innovation, connecting the supply side with the demand side, and driving the integration of the accessibility industry with flexible production and services. It is an industrial ecosystem and resource docking platform that can provide personalized and precise services to disabled individuals and families.

The platform adheres to the consumption philosophy of “creating for dignity, consuming for dignity” and becomes a practical virtual laboratory, standard release list, and inspection center in the field of accessibility, making it the world’s first digital accessibility resource docking platform. It serves as a virtual gathering place for the accessibility industry and an intelligent docking center for online resources, realizing disruptive innovation. It transforms accessibility products from the periphery to the mainstream and becomes an important part of industrial civilization. It enables intelligent manufacturing to access personalized customization enterprises, supporting them to grow stronger and enter the market. The platform will also deeply explore the humanized and emotional value of meeting the consumption needs of the disabled community.

Objectives:

Through the construction of the accessible resource platform, grasp the common needs of the disabled, their families, and service agencies, promote the industrialization of disability issues, and scale up the accessibility industry. This will greatly improve user experience and industry efficiency.

The platform will effectively promote the intelligent manufacturing level of the accessibility industry, expand demand space, promote the coordinated aging of the industry, and continuously improve the civilization and happiness index of all mankind.

Through modular design from the social, political, economic, and technological dimensions, the platform matches disabled individuals with contemporary local political, economic, social, and technological trends, opportunities, and directions. It forms a positive feedback mechanism for social resources, not only improving the quality of life of disabled communities but also enhancing their dignity. It also helps to socialize, communitize, and professionalize family care for the elderly and disabled, promote the national and urban accessibility civilization process, and make a unique contribution to the United Nations’ early realization of the human sustainable development strategy.

Intended Outcomes:

The achievements of intelligent manufacturing technologies in the intelligent information age (such as brain-computer interfaces, etc.) are widely and timely applied to accessible products, allowing disabled individuals to seamlessly integrate into urban life and achieve the goal of social 5.0 at an early stage.

Promote innovative application of the sociological “field” research mode, push the problems encountered by disabled and elderly people in their lives to the social level for research and solution, mobilize and trigger research from all walks of life, and create a new concept, new ethics, and new model of sustainable development for the happiness and well-being of disabled people.

Through this platform, stimulate innovative capabilities on the supply side, and break through the main supply mode of products and services for disabled people, which mainly rely on social welfare and are characterized by non-precision, non-effectiveness, and administrative supply mode. Explore commercial means to efficiently and accurately solve the low effectiveness of elderly and disabled care.

Link to the SDGs:

The Eden Project is dedicated to leveraging contemporary digital technologies and scientific advancements to empower individuals with disabilities, promote accessibility, and foster a culture of inclusivity. Aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations, including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), the project strives to create a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable world by ensuring equal opportunities and access to essential services for all individuals, regardless of ability.
